The Knockoff Economy

I want to give a big thumbs-up to the new book by Kal Raustiala and Chris Sprigman on The Knockoff Economy:  How Imitation Sparks Innovation.  This is the culmination of what I think is the most interesting research project in intellectual property, which examines how creative industries often thrive without copyright or patent protection.  (Examples include fashion and restaurants.)  We need a corrective to the mentality that additional IP protection is always better, and this is a good start.
